UNCERTAIN GERMANIC TRIBES, Pseudo-Imperial coinage. Late 5th century or slightly later. Solidus (Subaeratus, 21 mm, 4.27 g, 6 h), imitating Zeno, 476-491. D N ZENO PERE AVG Pearl-diademed, helmeted and cuirassed bust of Zeno facing, his head turned slightly to right, holding spear in his right hand and with a shield, decorated with a horseman, over his left shoulder. Rev. VICTORIA AVGGG H / CONOB Victory standing left, holding long jeweled cross; in field to right, star. AB -. Cf. RIC 910 (for prototype). Holed twice and with some breaks in plating, otherwise, very fine.
